Just imagine what would happen if the cure for HIV was found that could completely wipe off the virus (at an affordable price). The first great thing of course is that a lot of people would have a stronger hope for the future. The productive generation would be safe again and there would be less people in the hospitals. Lots of money would be saved by both individuals and government. A lot of people would focus their energy on other things that would probably lead to a faster advancement of our world.
Then a lot of companies that make ARVs would go out of business and thousands if not millions of people would be jobless. HIV clinics would close (and I’d start looking for a new job!). I wonder what would happen in the bars and those places where sex workers do business… I think there’d be a lot of promiscuity like in the sixties and seventies (I heard it was terrible back in the day…). The other STI’s like syphilis, gonorrhea, chancroid, etc would be a problem again; I think…
To what extent do you think those companies that make millions on ARVs and the like would go to…, you know… I wonder…
